A collection of projects conceptualised and developed since the creation of VCILT in 2001. These projects cover the wide range of expertise of the centre, namely:

  • instructional design
  • online content development and training
  • creative multimedia design & development
  • website production
  • learning management systems
  • developmental work

The VCILT supports academics and tutors with online module development, assists them with technology and academic management tools for the conception, presentation and networking of their contents and activities. The VCILT is involved in supervision of organisational reorganisation based on ICT integration.

L
earning Objects Repository (LOR)
The LOR is in charge of building a repository of learning resources from the University and from the Internet.

The VCILT has developed its own LOR , a digital library on a model defined in the LORNET project in Canada, following exchanges with CIRTA - Centre Interuniversitaire de Recherches                           Téléapprentissage (Montreal, Qc., Canada) and LICEF - Laboratoire d’Informatique Cognitive et Environnements de Formation              (Montreal, Qc., Canada)

Online Test Centre
VCILT developed the Online Test Centre to provide assessment tools enabling university academics to carry out online tests, self-assessment, quizzes and exams through the Internet or  intranet. The test is integrated seamlessly in the Ilearn e-Learning platform.

FAIRE - Formation, Alternance Instrumentée & Recherche
This portal has been developed as reflexive training tool which objective is to contribute to the reinforcement and improvement of the training of social workers at the Regional Institute of Social Work (IRTS) of Reunion Island.

IT Proficiency

Instructional Design and Multimedia Conception and Realisation of atailored-made course in introduction to ICT, for the mauritian population with particular attention to the needs of the country over the next five years.

In 2002, the VCILT was responsible for the preparation of the content delivered on a CDROM. The training of the tutors was done by the VCILT. So far, 36,000 trainees have gone through the IT Proficiency program. An online Test Centre was then designed and used for assessing the trainees.

The SMARTER portal was developed to demonstrate the use of ICT in promoting of Science & Technology in schools.

L'Aventure du Sucre
In the context of a partnership with L'Aventure du Sucre, the VCILT designed and developed a website and pedagogical animations on the following themes: "The manufacture of the sugar", and "The cane (irrigation systems, life cycle, etc.)".

Sugar, Science and Innovation
This website was developed within the framework of a university work entitled " Sugar, science and innovation". This site proposes a general view on the sugar activity and the sectors concerned by it (health, science, history, technology, etc.).

LAMAP & VCILT
VCILT for a research action that has an objective to spread the model of 'La main a la Pate' to the other educational domains than that of sciences in Mauritian school to answer emerging needs in developing countries.

Aapravasi Ghat
Aapravasi Ghat is a symbol of cultural identity and continuity and occupies a significant position as a site of Mauritian heritage. It is through the gates of this monument that half a million indentured labourers came to Mauritius in the 19th and early 20th century to earn their living and to seek a new life.
