SMARTER Exchange Platform     As an initiative of the Mauritius Research Council (MRC), the SMARTER portal was developed and demonstrates the use of ICT for the promotion of Science & Technology in schools. Since 2003, the MRC undertook a number of studies with a view of assessing the status of Science & Technologies in Mauritius, and more specifically in the education sector. In this respect, the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research (MoESR) subsequently mandated the MRC to chair a Steering Committee and to make recommendations in the light of the findings of the studies, aimed at renewing the interest and encouraging students to start learning science at an early age. The report of the Steering Committee on Science Education to the MoESR highlighted seven priority initiatives, and one of them gave birth to SMARTER. This website provides links to various online educational resources, which contain notes, animations and tutorials that are relevant to O–level Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (including Additional Mathematics) syllabusi. Smarter Exchange is also a platform for exchange of information, set up to help answer queries from students and teachers and to encourage peer interaction. This educational website is available as a free resource for students and teachers and others who are interested in science and mathematics.     Développé à l'initiative du Mauritius Research Coucil (MRC), le portail SMARTER illustre un usage des TICE pour la promotion des Sciences & Technologies (S&T) dans les écoles mauriciennes. Depuis 2003, le MRC a entreprit une série d'études, en vue d'évaluer le statut des S&T à Maurice, et plus spécifiquement dans l'éducation. Dans cette perspective, le Ministère de l'Education & de la Recherche (MoESR) a confié au MRC le soin de faire des recommandations destinées à revitaliser l'intérêt pour les S&T, et à encourager les élèves à s'y intéresser dès leur plus jeune âge. Les conclusions du rapport du Comité de Coordination ont donné naissance à SMARTER, développé à partir d'une plateforme générique réalisée au VCILT. SMARTER propose un ensemble de liens à des ressources et des sites éducatifs en biologie, chimie, physique et mathématiques, destinés au niveau collégial (programmes ordinaires O-level de Cambridge). Smarter Exchange est une plateforme d'échange d'information permettant d'encourager l'interaction entre étudiants et professeurs et de répondre à des questions. Ce site éducatif est une ressource libre, ouverte aux étudiants, aux professeurs ou à tout autre personne intéressée par les S&T.
