There is currently no direct legislation monitoring e-waste's handling, recycling and disposal, because it has not been identified as a waste stream in any of the characterization studies that have been regularly carried out on municipal waste streams. Throughout this project a groundwater risk analysis has been conducted in the vicinity of the Mare Chicose landfill in Mauritius. Leachate samples were also collected for analysis of heavy metals and Brominated Flame Retardants Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) in landfill leachate are of concern because BFRs are organic compounds that are toxic, bioaccumulative, and persistent in the environment. Surveys have been carried out among households and distributors of electronic devices to demonstrate the magnitude of e-waste problem in Mauritius.

83 EA94 ICT  A proposal for deployment of Web Services in Small and Medium Enterprises for efficient and cost effective operations  CHUTOO Anwar a.chutoo@uom.ac.mu The WWW has provided a new way for businesses to flourish in today's competitive environment. Businesses should be able to market their products and services to reach out to the maximum number of customers. Businesses offering both products and services should also be able to offer an easy, intuitive and non-invasive way for their customers to make their purchases. Marketing and selling over the web used to require investing considerable amounts of time and money in setting up a website and having merchant accounts to allow secure payments. It used to be an asset or even luxury that only larger companies could afford, and very often, small and medium enterprises (SME's) were left out of the equation. However, nowadays, with the proliferation of a number of Web Services from trusted companies, like Google and Amazon, SME's can easily have a strong online presence and enhance their customers' experiences. In this paper, we make a proposal of how SME's can leverage Web Services available from two major providers, Amazon and Google, to add value to their businesses in a cost effective manner. The paper discusses how these Web Services allow businesses to add secure check out and advertisements using technologies like Amazon Checkout and Google Adwords.

Exponential time integrators have been previously applied in Tangman et al.(2008) for European options. We show here, how accurate Asian option prices can be efficiently obtained by combining high resolution methods with ETDRK to solve the resulting two-dimensional convection dominated Black--Scholes type PDE. For European options with low volatility, we illustrate how using ETDRK with flux limiters give non-oscillatory prices and sensitivity parameters.
